House of Faith holds annual Christmas party

Staff report

About 500 elementary aged children filed off buses and vans and into a decorative hallway full of lights, candy cane-striped ornaments and greeters handing out high-fives for the House of Faith's annual Christmas party.

Volunteers, some dressed as elves, and covered with Christmas attire started the fun by tossing plastic toy balls to the children who in return shouted with laughter as they scrambled to catch them.

"The community comes together to sponsor children so they can get a Christmas gift; so we throw a party for them larger than life and give gifts to all kids at the end of the party," said Macy Menchaca, assistant director of HOF.

House of Faith hosted three Christmas parties this week — for about 1,500 children in kindergarten through fifth grade — Tuesday through Thursday at Christian Church of San Angelo.

"The party includes a skit that points them back to Jesus, that’s that point," Menchaca said. "We want them to know that people have loved them and supported them in the community and that’s why the get a gift, and to pull something real fun together to point them to the Lord."

Children anxiously wait for their team to be named the winner by Macy Menchaca, assistant director of House of Faith, during a holiday game at HOF's annual Christmas party for children Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016.
